SATURDAY AFTERNOON SAILING
Whenever possible, on a Saturday afternoon
at 14.00hrs, Club members hold a series of informal
sail training sessions. All new members, junior members and members new to sailing will be very
welcome to attend these sessions, if interested, contact the committee.
We are confident that you will have an enjoyable time.
During these sessions it is the intention to look at the following areas:-
How to rig a dinghy, what goes where and why!
Launching and recovery of boats.
The points of sailing, beating to windward, reaching and running before the wind.
Aspects of boat handling under sail.
Confidence building, sailing in different conditions.
Capsize drill. (In the summer)!
Informal fun races, with water pistols!
Trips through a lock.
Elementary rules discussions.
If you don’t own a boat yet, it’s not a problem; as we can use the club’s Wayfarer, as well as member's boats.
All club members are invited to come down to the club on Saturdays for fun sailing, it would be great to see you all!
